Acho que daqui em diante vou começar a escrever os posts também em inglês. Torna a coisa legível aos amigos bifes e não me faz mal nenhum o exercício de escrever em inglês. No ano passado tive umas feriazinhas simpáticas no nordeste do Brasil e apercebi-me, nas inúmeras entradas-e-saídas em tudo quanto era sapataria, de uma cena curiosa a que os brasileiros chamam de 'Inspired'. E não vêm problema nenhum com isso, tipo, no problemo.  Deixo-vos alguns exemplos do tal 'inspired: 

 I reckon from now on I'm going to start writing posts in both english and portuguese. It makes this thing readable to non-portuguese speaking friends and, who knows, might help keep my english in shape.

Last year I spent a very pleasant holiday in the northeast of Brazil, and spent quite some time doing my favourite sport, which is obviously getting in and out of shops. Mainly shoe shops. And I became increasingly intreagued by the blatant immitations I saw in terms of shoe designs. I know know they call this 'Inspired' in Brazil. It's totally ok to do 'inspired' things, like, they don't even care. Here are a few examples:

Eu cá leio uma série de blogs brasileiros e vejo as miúdas a usar disto o tempo todo, e ninguém lhes come os miolos por causa disso. Parece que é ok, até. Tipo, nem olham para a coisa com a conotação negativa da imitação.

A mim parece-me uma chungaria total. Já é, digamos, um bocadinho aborrecido não poder ter uns sapatos mega sexy e super da moda, mas deixar a coisa escalar ao desespero, a pontos de andar por aí montada em falsificações é muito chato. E, cá para mim, que sou fã nr.1 da Zara, isto é uma cena bem diferente do que a Zara faz, que, creio é, é um trabalho espantoso de pesquisa e de tradução da moda a sério para o que é a realidade da rua. Uma coisa é aquele brilhante achado na Zara, umas calças com padrão geométrico a 20 euros que são super Marni, por exemplo; outra coisa é esta cena a que os brasileiros chamam 'inspired', mas que podia bem chamar-se CTRL+C CTRL+V. Just sayin!

I read a bunch of brazillian blogs and I see girls wearing these all the time and they don't get any stick for wearing imitations of the real thing. It seems to be alright, even.  It's like they aren't perceived as knock-offs at all, 'inspired' in the fancy european ones.

I find knock-offs really dodgy. It sucks not to own a pair of those super sexy shoes because they cost three times what you make in a year, but wearing knock offs just screams desperation, plus it's just wrong.

I'm Zara's biggest fan, I think they do great research and they are great translators of high fashion into the street. I do admire the 'translation' aspect of what they do. You can buy some trousers with a cool print that are 'so Marni', or a bag that could totally be Céline, but these brazillians are doing it in an entirely different way. They may be inspired, but I can't say I'm impressed.
