Satisfying associations

The colour in these Zilian shoes is so dreamy and inspiring. It imediately brought to mind the atmospheric lilacs and pastel tones in impressionist works. (Above: Monet - Charing Cross Bridge, 1899)

I find this terribly satisfying.

Don't think you can ever combine black & white + red, blue and yellow without resonating the FATHER OF PRIMARY COLOURS, Piet Mondrian.

As I was doing a quick search on Mondrian-inspired shoes I found quite a few quirky ones; have a looksee:

Vans (fyi, would kill for these)

Today

What I like most about anything visual is colour. More than shape, colour is what really draws me in. Today I've mixed mossy, muddy tones like dark green and greys with a bit of pink for contrast. Because today's palette is so serious and deep, I thought I'd sprinkle some sass into these earthy tones by adding the pink glitter shoes. I really like it!

Duffel coat is Bimba y Lola (their sales are the best), sweatshirt by The Kooples, linen shirt is Hugo Boss (it's huge because I borrowed from the boyfriend without him knowing - ps.: good luck seeing it again, love!), Mango jeans and Gucci horsebit loafers, also from sales.

On the background you can also see a wee bit of a beautiful Cy Twombly painting. Here's some more for inspiration and good luck:

Grey and gold

Today I have accidentally put together my new favourite colour combination: grey and gold. It's all Zara everything (let's call it Zarmani to chic it up a bit), except for the sweater, which is a rejected prototype I picked up at the factory. I love these ill-fiting, odd-coloured rejects; I just find them more captivating and unique than the final, super tweaked version our clients are happier with.

Piers Atkinson

I think hats and hair accessories are a lovely thing but when it comes to real life, what I really like is to stay in bed in the morning as much as I can, i.e. decorating my head just doesn't make it to my list of priorities. Since I don't usually wear anything that's not absolutely essential to guarantee the basic levels of a dignified appearence, my general take on hats is 'ain't nobody got time fo dat'.

I recognize that floppy wide brim hats are fab and I dig the air of mistery and nostalgia they give. But they're hardly the latest piece of news, right?

Then I came across milliner Piers Atkinson and my jaw dropped. Here's why:

If you like it, you should put a big fucking ring on it.

The very antidote of boredom.

Why not? It's always a good idea.

Now go look at your floppy hats and your fedoras again and tell me they haven't just faded away in comparison.
